Ancient Indian Spices

Owner: Deborah McLaren

Hometown: St. Paul, MN

Category: Local/Artisan Food

I’ll be selling: Indian Spice mixes and gift boxes (boxes include spice mixes and related products like tea tins, tea towels, etc.). Spice mixes include Chai Masala, Chaat Masala, Golden Turmeric Powder, Madras Curry Powder, Kolhapuri Masala, Tandoori, etc.

About my company: Ancient Indian Spices started as a way for us to help nonprofit organizations – we provided our spice mixes to help them raise funds. We got so many customers we decided to try out farmers’ markets. My husband was born and raised in south India and we make our own spices from scratch. We are committed to quality, organic ingredients and are moving to local as much as possible. We buy our spices whole and then pan toast them before we grind and mix them. It is an extra work of love but it truly brings out the fragrance and flavor that simply mixing powdered spices together would never match. We have made donations to small farmers around the world and that’s something we’d like to continue to do more of.

Find me online:

Note from the Shop Small Holiday Market: Deborah & Ancient Indian Spices are returning after their debut at the 2017 Shop Small Holiday Market! We’ve been enjoying her delicious chai spice so are thrilled she’s coming back as all her spice mixes are a great gift! We encourage you to check her products out!! We also recommend the Chaat masala on freah-popped popcorn, amazing!!
